Overview

The trip

Paris, Marseille and Barcelona each answer the same question differently: how should a city be designed, built and lived in?

We begin in Paris, examining the evolution of urban planning, public space and the architectural movements that transformed one of the world's great cities. In Marseille, students see Le Corbusier's Unité d'Habitation, a founding work of high-density modernist housing. The trip ends in Barcelona, where Gaudí's organic architecture and the city's design museums, including the Disseny Hub, show a radically different relationship between architecture, nature and public life.
