Destination

Where Europe's ideas are practised

Europe's universities, courts, design museums and studios are where many of the subjects Kenyan students study were shaped. Our trips bring architecture, law, art and STEM to life in cities including Paris, Barcelona, Rome, Amsterdam, Brussels, Berlin and London, and at the Venice Biennale.

Subjects: Architecture & Design · Law & International Relations · STEM & Engineering · Arts & Culture · History

Highlights

Where students go

  • Le Corbusier's Paris

At Villa Savoye, students see how Le Corbusier's five points of architecture revolutionised design: pilotis, a roof garden, an open floor plan, long windows and open facades.

  • Gaudí's Barcelona

From the Sagrada Família to Park Güell, students examine how Gaudí fused nature, engineering, art and architecture.

  • Rome and the Vatican

St Peter's Basilica and the Renaissance masterpieces of Michelangelo and Bernini show the fusion of faith, power and artistic ambition.

  • EU institutions in Brussels

Students step into the European Parliament and European Commission, where policy shapes economies, borders and futures.

  • Engineering in Munich and Stuttgart

Students visit the Technical University of Munich and iconic automotive brands such as BMW, Mercedes-Benz and Porsche.

  • The Venice Biennale

At the Giardini and Arsenale, visionary installations from over 60 countries redefine the future of art and architecture.

  • World War II in Germany, France and Poland

Memorials, museums and former centres of power turn history from a textbook subject into something students walk through.

  • West End theatre in London

Behind-the-scenes workshops at the National Theatre and West End productions connect performing arts study to a live stage.

Learning outcomes

What students gain

Students will be able to:

  • Trace how a single architectural idea, such as Le Corbusier's five points, changed the direction of design
  • Explain how EU institutions in Brussels shape policy across member states
  • Connect a historical event studied in class to the memorial or museum that now documents it
  • Compare art, architecture and governance across at least three different European countries in one trip
