Overview

The trip

Italy and France hold two of Europe's great turning points: the rise and fall of Rome, and the French Revolution.

In Rome, students walk the Colosseum, the Roman Forum and the Pantheon to see how an empire governed itself. In Florence, the Palazzo Vecchio and the story of the Medici show how banking and politics funded the Renaissance. In Paris, students visit the Conciergerie, where revolutionary prisoners awaited trial, the Panthéon and the Musée Carnavalet, then travel to Versailles, where the Estates General met in 1789 and the Treaty of Versailles was signed in 1919.
