Overview

The trip

Greece offers an unbroken view of three thousand years of history in stone.

In Athens, students climb the Acropolis, visit the Parthenon and the Acropolis Museum, built above an excavated ancient neighbourhood visible through its glass floors, and walk the Ancient Agora, where democracy took shape. At Mycenae, the Lion Gate and the Treasury of Atreus show the Bronze Age world that Homer later described. At Olympia, the stadium and temple ruins show where the Olympic Games began, traditionally dated to 776 BCE. At Delphi, the Sanctuary of Apollo and its museum show how the oracle shaped decisions across the Greek world.
